Skates.pk (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates an online peer-to-peer marketplace for buying and selling skateboarding gear in Pakistan. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: username, email address and password (stored encrypted).
- Profile & contact: display or shop name, phone / WhatsApp number, city, and an optional bio and profile photo.
- Listings: item titles, descriptions, prices, categories, condition, size, city and photos you upload.
- Seller verification: if you request verified-seller status, an identity document (e.g. CNIC) image and, optionally, your CNIC number, submitted for manual review.
- Orders & delivery: order details and, for shipped orders, delivery name, phone, address, city and courier / tracking information.
- Payment receipts: if you buy seller credits, you may upload a bank-transfer receipt image so an administrator can verify your payment.
- Messages & reviews: the content of messages you exchange with other users, and ratings/reviews you submit after a completed order.
Information collected automatically
- Device & usage data: basic technical information such as device type, app version, IP address and interactions with the Service.
- Push notification tokens: if you enable notifications, we store a device push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service) to deliver order, message and account alerts.
- Cookies (website): essential cookies keep you logged in and remember preferences.
2. How we use your information
- Create and manage your account and profile.
- Publish your listings and power search, filtering and the marketplace.
- Enable buyers and sellers to place orders, communicate and complete deals.
- Review seller-verification requests and payment receipts.
- Send transactional emails and app notifications (order updates, messages, approvals).
- Operate the ratings and reviews system, which is tied to genuine completed orders to help prevent fake reviews.
- Protect the Service against fraud, abuse and violations of our terms, and comply with legal obligations.
3. How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the marketplace:
- With other users: your public profile (shop/display name, city, ratings, verified status) and your listings are visible to others. When you place or accept an order, or start a chat, relevant contact details (such as your phone / WhatsApp number and, for shipped orders, delivery details) are shared with the other party so you can complete the deal directly.
- Couriers: for shipped orders, delivery details are used by you and the seller to arrange courier services (e.g. TCS); we are not a party to that shipment.
- Service providers: hosting, email delivery and push-notification providers (including Google / Firebase and Apple) that process data on our behalf.
- Legal & safety: where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or the public.
- Business transfers: information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
4. Payments & transactions
Skates.pk does not process or hold payments for marketplace purchases. Buyers and sellers arrange payment directly — typically cash on delivery or in person. Any payment-proof image is used only to help verify a seller-credit purchase and is not a payment we collect. We do not store card or bank-account numbers.
5. App permissions
- Camera / Photos: to take or upload listing photos, verification documents and payment receipts.
- Notifications: to send order, message and account alerts.
You can control these permissions at any time in your device settings.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we must retain certain records.
7. Your rights & choices
- Access & update: view and edit most profile information from your account settings.
- Marketing & notifications: turn off push notifications in device settings and unsubscribe from non-essential emails.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and personal data (see below).
8. Account & data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing [email protected] from your registered email address, or by using the in-app account settings where available. We will process verified requests within a reasonable period. Some information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention and dispute resolution.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted passwords and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password confidential.
10. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may also be communicated through the Service.
